The Insights dashboard is live: see fees, clients, pipeline, and billing in one place, inside Socket

Once proposals go out, you need to know what happened next: which services are growing, where recurring fees are slipping, how many proposals are waiting on a signature, and what the next three months of billing look like.

Until now, getting that view out of Socket meant a trip to the Google Sheets extension, or a call to the API.

The new Insights dashboard brings all of that into Socket itself, on one screen, and covers recurring revenue movement, revenue by service, proposal pipeline and ageing, win rate, and billing. Filter the data by timescale, owner, manager, or service to get detailed snapshots from all angles of your practice.

Where Socket Insights came from

If you've been using the Socket Insights extension for Google Sheets, you'll know Socket has had reporting for a while. The extension pulls your active proposal data into a spreadsheet and builds reports like the client × services matrix, client facts, and services and drivers by client. It has done a good job, and plenty of practices have built their monthly reviews around it.

Alongside that, the open API and more recently the MCP server have given practices and their AI assistants direct access to their Socket data. Those options aren't going anywhere. The dashboard sits on top of them and does the work most practices were doing by hand each month: pulling the data, building the charts, and comparing this period with the last one.

It's rolled through beta testing and is now live in the app. Early users like Dan Johnson at Nuvo put it like this:

Pricing only works if you can see what's happening once proposals go out. Socket's new dashboard gives us a clear view of fees and performance by partner and portfolio, on demand, instead of a manual exercise we'd run monthly.

What the dashboard shows you

Select Insights opens with four headline figures: what you've billed in the period, your active client count with the change over the period, your average recurring fee per client per month, and your projected billing for the next three months.

Below those, the reports break down as follows.

Movement in recurring base: the opening balance, new revenue, expansion, contraction, lost revenue, and closing balance for the period, with active clients and average fee shown month by month. This is the report that tells you whether your recurring book is growing because you're winning clients or because existing clients are paying more, and where it is leaking.

Revenue by service: the value of your active proposals broken down by service, with recurring and one-off shown separately. If you've used the client × services matrix in the Sheets extension, this is the same question answered from the revenue side.

Proposal pipeline: every unbilled proposal grouped by status (draft, internal review, pending for a month or less, pending for longer than a month), so you can see where work is stalling before it is signed.

Proposal ageing: your active proposals grouped by how long they've been running (under 12 months, 12 - 24, 24 - 36, over 36). Older proposals are usually the ones priced on old assumptions, so this is a quick way to spot who is due a review.

Win rate: month by month, shown both by count and by value, because a 60% win rate on small proposals and a 60% win rate on large ones are different stories.

Total billing: monthly billing split into recurring, activation, and on completion work.

Everything except total billing and the "as at today" tiles responds to the filters at the top. Pick a client owner, client manager, proposal owner, or service, then set the period to the last 3, 6, or 12 months or a custom range, and the whole dashboard updates. That is how you get the view by partner or portfolio Dan describes above.

Unlike the Sheets extension, which works from active proposals only, the dashboard also covers your pipeline and billing, so the numbers reflect what is coming as well as what is already signed.

The team at Beansprout have had early access, and this was their take:

"I've had the opportunity to see the new reporting dashboard in Socket and, once again, they've delivered!

What really excites me is that so much of the data we would usually have to monitor outside of the system is now coming together in one place. We can see changes in recurring fees, client numbers, average fee per client and revenue by service, alongside headline proposal pipeline results.

It really does feel like the start of something exciting. As more insights are brought into the dashboard, I can see it becoming an incredibly valuable part of understanding performance, spotting opportunities and making better decisions.

How to get to Insights

If you're already a Socket user, the dashboard is in your account now. Log in to Socket and select Insights from the left hand menu. The help guide on using the Insights dashboard walks through each chart and what the filters do. We also covered the dashboard in our recent New Features Roundup webinar.

If you'd still like your data in a spreadsheet, the Socket Insights extension continues to work as before. The guides on setting it up and the reports it offers are still live in the help centre.

This is the first version, and as Beansprout say, there is more to come. If there's a number you want to see in here that isn't yet, tell us. Let us know how you get on!
