We've won UK Practice App of the Year at the Xero Global App Awards 2026

Socket has been named UK Practice App of the Year at the Xero Global App Awards 2026.

We went into the awards with four nominations: Practice App of the Year for Global, the UK, Canada, and Ireland. Four shortlists in one year was more than we expected, and we were pleased with every one of them. But if you had asked anyone on the team which award reflected Socket’s current journey, you would have got the same answer: The UK one is the one that counts for us right now, because so much of what sits inside Socket was built specifically for practices working under UK rules, UK dates, and UK filing obligations.

Socket works wherever your practice does

Practices run on Socket across the UK, Ireland, Europe, the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the wider APAC region. Pricing, proposals, engagement letters, and billing hold up in each of those markets, with regional settings, currencies, and templates following the practice rather than the other way round. The Global, Canada and Ireland shortlists reflect our dedication to making Socket accessible to everyone.

How we built Socket for the UK market

We built the UK side with more insider knowledge. Feature by feature, and alongside many UK practices who are keen to share what UK compliance demands from them. Here are just some of the ways Socket is built to serve UK firms specifically:

Socket Engage: a library of engagement letters and service schedules written for UK practices under all professional bodies.

Beneficial ownership, powered by Xama: available to all users, giving you the ownership picture on a client without rebuilding it by hand from filings.

Company lookup: client details pulled straight from Companies House, with officers and PSC lookups and financial year-end dates coming with them.

Lead research: driven from Companies House data, so a prospect record starts from their real filing history and structure.

TaxScout: a connection to HMRC through Government Gateway that brings clients' tax records into Socket, showing filing and payment position across your client base in one screen.

Tax-year job periods: job periods that run on the 5 April year end, which sounds minor until you've tried to manage a UK compliance cycle in software that only understands calendar quarters.

UK forms: UK tax form field types and GB-region system form templates, so what you collect from a client matches what you need for the return.

Sodium Software integration: Socket connects to the UK practice management tool, Sodium, so you can run proposals in Socket and push won clients, services, pricing and billing to track them inside Sodium.

The credit belongs to UK practices

Awards like this get given to the software, but the reason the software is any good is the practices using it every day and telling us what they need next.

Over the past year, that has meant accountants and bookkeepers taking the time to explain how their practice runs, sitting on calls to walk us through a workflow and testing things as they were being built. So if you use Socket, this is your award as much as it is ours. Thank you.
