Junior Product Marketing Manager

Socket is a next-generation software platform powering the client engagement operations of accounting and bookkeeping firms across the UK, Australia and New Zealand.
We are a small technology startup with operations in both the UK and New Zealand. The team currently consists of 3 founders who have previously built and sold software in the accounting tech space, a product manager and 2 experienced software engineers. Over the last 18 months we have built out a best-in-class product offering for firms to manage pricing, proposals, and engagement letters.

After working closely with our early adopter customers to build and refine a game-changing system, we’re moving into an exciting phase for the product as we ramp up and expand our operations. With a growing client base and product roadmap, we’re now looking for our first dedicated marketing hire – someone eager to shape and drive our marketing efforts at an exciting stage of our journey.
In this Junior Product Marketer role, you will have the unique opportunity to work across various facets of marketing, supporting product launches, content creation, demand generation, and brand awareness. You’ll collaborate closely with the Socket team to ensure consistent messaging, compelling storytelling, and a strong market presence. This position will be fully remote, and flexible working hours with the expectation that you’ll generally be aligned with standard office hours in the UK. You’ll report to our Head of Marketing & Design, who has a wealth of experience to help you grow into your role, and work closely with the team in the UK on a day to day basis.
What will I be doing? 🚀
- Product Positioning & Messaging
- Help develop and refine product messaging and positioning that resonates with target audiences.
- Collaborate with the Product team to understand product features and translate these into customer benefits.
- Market & Competitor Research
- Conduct ongoing market research to stay abreast of trends and competitor offerings.
- Gather insights to inform product marketing strategies and highlight opportunities for differentiation.
- Content & Campaign Creation
- Assist in creating compelling content (e.g. blog posts, case studies, videos, infographics) that drives engagement and educates potential customers.
- Support the planning and execution of marketing campaigns across multiple channels (email, social media, paid ads).
- Digital Marketing & Analytics
- Manage and optimise the company’s social media and email marketing efforts, including planning, scheduling, and performance tracking.
- Work with analytics tools to measure the effectiveness of campaigns, reporting on key metrics and ROI.
- Sales Enablement
- Develop marketing collateral and sales tools (pitch decks, one-pagers, product demos) to support Sales in customer-facing conversations.
- Continuously gather feedback from Sales to refine marketing materials and messaging.
- Brand Building & Events
- Help enhance brand awareness through consistent brand storytelling and design alignment.
- Coordinate participation in industry events, webinars, and other promotional activities to drive product awareness and generate leads.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with the Head of Marketing & Design to align marketing strategies with broader business goals.
- Work closely with the Product team to ensure user onboarding and education sets our customers up for long term success
What skills do I need? 📖

- Educational Background: a qualification in Marketing, Business, or a related field.
- Marketing Fundamentals: Some experience (internship or 1–2 years) in marketing, preferably in a tech or B2B context.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex ideas into clear, engaging content.
- Analytical Mindset: Comfortable interpreting marketing metrics (e.g. conversion rates, CTRs, CAC) to guide decision-making.
- Creative Problem Solver: A proactive self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced startup environment, contributing fresh ideas and solutions.
- Team Player: Eager to collaborate cross-functionally, with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills.
- Tech-Savvy: Familiarity with tech operations fundamentals such as Slack and Google Workspace apps.
- Passion for SaaS: Keen interest in software technology and how it can solve real-world business problems.
Bonus skills & attributes 🙌
- Previous experience working in a software product marketing role
- Exposure to the accounting and bookkeeping industry
- Understanding of web technologies and concepts (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, APIs, etc.)
- Familiarity with marketing automation and analytics tools (e.g. Intercom, Google Analytics) is a plus
